October Children (Latin: Oktiabriata) is a Communist
organization of young schoolchildren, active during
Soviet period. First time this term was appeared in
1923-1924 referred to children was born in 1917,
the year of the October revolution.Later the term was
used as the name of a youth organization for children
between 7 and 9 years old. After the age of nine October Children would typically join the Young Pioneer organization.

from the Russian Kommunisticheskiy Soyuz Molodiozhi,or 'Communist Union of Youth'.
The organization was established on October 29, 1918. Since 1922 the full official name in Russian was
Vsesoyuzny Leninskiy Kommunisticheskiy Soyuz Molodyozhi (VLKSM) All-Union Leninist Young Communist League.
