Created is 3DS Max 9, this is a nice and customizable candle holder. It was designed to-scale and a lot of effort was put into creating this while maintaining the ability to control mesh density as well as other other things. Any uniform scaling will have to be accompanied by WSM to keep the texture maps from going crazy in other non-scale scenes.
Every major part of the candle holder is ready for manipulation via the modfier stack. Actual candle not included.

Modify the:
Lathe segments of the base, top (candle hole) and trim
Mesh density for woodwork controlled by plane render density
Main body displacement controlled by turbosmooth
Woodwork detail image included at 2484x205 pixels.

My recommendation is to keep same aspect ratio of the displacement map should you decide to use your own.
